Webinar – CRIT session

Today I showed my design idea the first time in fron of several students as part of the CRIT. I have hesitated the last time to talk about my idea. Now it was a bit more clear what i wanted to do.

When I showed the front cover of the book Louis mentioned he liked the idea in general. Regarding the reflections he said I could distort or warp the design a bit more (express more). I wasn’t entirely sure what he meant. He also sent me later a bit more explanation in a private message….

Michela was curious about my color choice (the gold) because it’s a quite “luxurious” color but at the same time simple. I told her that the glass itself is a luxurious product and yes I thought it was simple. Also she mentioned later kintsugi, a japanese way of forming objects (? I have to check that later) out of fragments such as bowls…

Kieran mentioned that he went to a Stasi museum in Germany in the past and that my project reminded me of the paper fragments that you can see in those places.

Frauke added that to that the ‘fragility of paper’. And that I could work a bit more on the typographic statement. In the tutorial I had with earlier this week she mentioned I could liven up the design a bit more like a theatre play, add e.g. the artifact being handed around to my relatives. But I asked her mainly about my research question for the essay.
