Week 6
Webinar 6 – Collaboration
How to maintain egalitarian place (there is automatically hierarchy)?
- Inspire new ways of thinking, making
- Not get lost with how to make it democratic => most important in collab is respect and openness
Assignment studio practice (some of my thoughts):
-> It mentions the possibility to design a customer journey map if developing a new community organisation -> how get local people involved?
- What differentiates collaboration vs work by a group of people ? (Louis asked on the ideas wall) -> not easy to differentiate
- How can you bring your ideals, vision, dreams for graphic design or design approaches, methodologies into design practice?
- Adidas + Edison Chen -> shoes with beads -> unconventional and usually beads are done in community projects (Africa, Asia..) -> individual designer is praised
- Bless service design + Martin Margiela
- interested in circular economies
- working with existing materials
- transforming materials
- used old fur to produce head pieces
- Vivian Westwood project ‘Made with love in Kenya by artisan fashion’ -> -> Is it collaboration or an interdisciplinary Co operation?
- Mark her products with being made by artisans (vs Adidas focus on the designer)
- How can you add value to a brand? (As a designer)
- and will people recognise your style, value that you bring to a project? Is it important that audiences, clients etc recognise a style? (Example Sarah Boris – signature style)
- Ex shop design: Often its not just about designing a logo its about bringing the values of the company into the shop

Ideas that can contribute to a better world, maybe not necessarily have the tools to produce them but you can collaborate with experts on it…
Who do you want to be as a designer and what kind of clients would you like to have? What service you want to bring out?
- RECUP – reusable cafe cups
